Bob Larson Period Correct Mercury from BC

Three quarters of a century. That’s what the 1940 Mercury of Bob Larson has experienced in different hands.

Bob is a latecomer to the ownership path, as he has only had it since 2000. The Mercury arrived in his care after a purchase from Harold Grocott, a family friend that had it stored away as a shell; no running gear and without glass. While Grocott was reluctant to sell, recognition kicked in that his growing age was telling him that it would not be finished during his time left. Knowing that Larson would do justice to the dear ol’ Merc’ project, it changed hands.

Bob Larson is well known in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, as a hot rodder and all-around car guy. His enthusiasm was cast by his parents, Jackie and Jim, and his uncle, Bill Larson. “Dad has been building hot rods his entire life. My uncle Bill and my mom helped with the various projects too,” Bob belabors. “I still remember sitting in the back seat area of my dad’s ’33 sedan in a lawn chair, as the interior was not done.” The younger Larson admits to “going to rod runs since my early teens.”
