David Jackson’s 36 Coupe

In 1949 a lot was going on in post-World War II America. Among the many things, President Truman unveiled his Fair Deal program, Russia tested its first Atomic Bomb, and the B-50 Superfortress “Lucky Lady II,” under Captain James Gallagher, landed in Fort Worth, Texas, after completing the first non-stop around-the-world airplane flight. On the jukebox you would have heard the tunes “No Rollin’ Blues” by Jimmy Witherspoon or maybe “Wedding Bells” from Hank Williams. On the cover of the 1949 November issue of Hot Rod magazine you would have found the Jack Calori 1936 Ford three window coupe featuring a very finely chopped top. That Hot Rod cover of course went on to be one of many iconic covers put out by Hot Rod.
