Chuck Gage’s late Uncle John was part of a car club that began in 1945. A group of five friends in the Eagle Rock area of southern California decided to form a club and call themselves the “Trompers.” The club consisted of several roadster pickups and one 1932 Ford roadster. They often called the roadster’s driver the “admiral” because he drove a “big boat of a car.”

One of these members is named Terry Wilcox, or “Moe” as some folks call him, and he built this amazing little ’28 Ford. It served him well through high school and various activities of the club. He liked the little truck so much that he parked it in the late 1950s as life and all of its grand adventures began to ebb and flow. He would pull it out over the years and work on it. Then he would pull it apart because it was ‘not right’ and it would sit on the back burners for a while. He slowly collected old magazine articles and parts to build his dream truck.
