The Comet, 1929 Ford Model A Sedan
The beautiful sedan you see before you is named The Comet.
This is not the original Comet that Gary's dad, Anthony Abato, had in 1954. The original Comet was then a brand-new, 1954 Oldsmobile that was radically customized and toured the East Coast show circuit until it was destroyed in a house fire in 1961. I recently found the original car in Car Craft show coverage in 1962. It competed against customs from such greats as Darryl Starbird and Jerry Arnoke and once beat them out for a 12-foot trophy in Miami, Florida! Anthony was friends with the late great Ed Roth. Gary says his Dad's car changed so many different times; it was hard to identify each version. And so, the trend continues with Gary 's sedan.
